The following outline follows the general layout of a Weather Report that normally is prepared by the NTSB during an accident investigation. Additional information and sections may be added as desired.

1. Synoptic Situation
- Weather analysis reflecting the state of the atmosphere over a large area at a given moment.

2. Surface Observations
- METAR reports are taken once an hour between 50 minutes past the hour and the top of the (next) hour.

3. Terminal Aerodrome Forecast
- A Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF) is a concise statement of the expected meteorological conditions at an airport during a specified period (usually 24 hours).

4. Pilot Reports
- The Flight Service Station uses PIREPS to brief other pilots, to provide inflight advisories, and weather avoidance information to en route aircraft.

5. Upper Air Data
- Winds aloft are computer prepared and contain forecast wind direction and speed as well as forecast temperatures.

6. Weather Radar Data
- NEXRAD images from WSR-88D radars.

Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR)
- No data is currently available to the public.

8. Satellite Data
- Geostationary Operations Enviromental Satellite

9. National Weather Service Area Forecast
- State, zone or city forecasts as needed.

10. In-Flight Weather Advisories
- Advises of weather that maybe hazardous or potentially hazadous to the safe operation of aircraft.

11. Weather Brief
- Weather briefing information to be supplied by the FAA.

12. Alternate Weather
- Weather information pertaining to alternate airports specified in the aircraft flight plan.

13. Public Service Watches and Warnings
- Storm, wind, dust and other warnings, watches and advisories.

14. Astronomical Data
- times of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, transits of the Sun and Moon, and the beginning and end of civil twilight, along with information on the Moon's phase.
